E-governance is the leveraging of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve the standards of service delivery and simplify the processes in government. E-Governance presents challenges and opportunities to transform both the mechanics of government, and the nature of governance itself. Implementation of e-Governance is a highly complex process requiring provisioning of hardware & software, networking, process re-engineering and change management.

Tamil Nadu, even before the formulation of NeGP, has implemented many e-Governance Projects especially in the Land Records, Registration, Transport departments etc. Tamil Nadu has in fact progressively aligned its entire e-Governance plan in consonance with NeGP, ever since its formulation in May 2006 by the Government of India.
Following are the key e-governance projects being implemented.
The following certificates issued by the Revenue Department can be obtained by submitting the application through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society (PACCS) nearest to the applicant. The URL to access the website is http://www.edistrict.tn.gov.in
1) Community Certificate
2) Income Certificate
3) Deserted woman certificate
4) Nativity Certificate
5) No Graduate Certificate
Social welfare Schemes:
Similarly the following certificates issued by the Social Welfare Department can be obtained by submitting the application through the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society (PACCS) nearest to the applicant.

2) EVR Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Daughter Marriage
3) Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Re-marriage
4) Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage
5) Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Intercaste Marriage
Land related certificates like Chitta and A-register can be obtained from the link http://eservices.tn.gov.in by submitting the Survey Number and patta number.
